Hello, all. Anyone still here? I know it's been quite dead, but I do have some Jason-shaped things for you:

First up - Emmy talk for Jason and Awake.

"Whether you loved it or hated it, were endlessly confused by it or determined to dissect it, there is no denying that the most powerful tool in Awake's arsenal was the bravura performance star Jason Isaacs gave as a mourning man stuck between two realities."

Isaacs talks about the challenges Awake posed from a performance perspective, reveals his toughest on-screen moment and weighs in on that mindf*ck of a finale. (Spoilers.)Collapse )

In other news, a check over on IMDB has Jason listed as having roles in two new films: A Single Shot and Dawn. Now, take those with a grain of salt. I haven't been able to confirm them elsewhere yet, and IMDB, much like Wikipedia, can be edited by anyone. (For example, for months Jason was listed as having a role in the new Resident Evil, but RE star Milla Jovovich recently squashed that rumor as fake on her Twitter.) But! It's something to hope for at least. ;)

Oh, one more thing - for those you unable to get Awake for whatever reason, it is now available for your viewing pleasure on NBC.com and Hulu.

Edit: In the comments it has been confirmed that both of above mentioned films, A Single Shot and Dawn, are legit. Woot!

Hi all,

Tonight is Awake's series finale. *sobs loudly* I heard that it aired last night in Canada - those lucky ducks! Our northern friends have been especially nice not to spill too many beans about the episode. *sticks fingers in ears & chants, "I can't hear you!"*

For those of you who are interested, Kyle Killen will be hosting a chat during the EST time viewing of the episode. I might try to keep an eye on it to see if he gives away any secrets.

And there was a really good interview about tonight's episode here with both Himself and Kyle:

I know that I will have box of tissues at the ready...just in case...

It's official. NBC gave Awake (and several other shows) the axe as of yesterday. :(

"NBC dropped the axe Friday on four freshman series Are You There, Chelsea?, Awake, Bent and Best Friends Forever. Awake, from Lone Star's Kyle Killen, drew just 6.24 million viewers in its series premiere, but dropped down to 2.5 million viewers on Thursday."

Hi all,

For the Awake watchers, and hope-to-be Awake watchers, there are some Facebook pages dedicated to encouraging NBC to renew (and not cancel) Awake for next year.  I'm sure that many of you already know about them...but I thought I would share them with you, in case you haven't heard about them and are curious/interested/intrigued. I have to admit that I don't know if the fear-mongering is true, but the ratings are not inspiring (*shakes fist at The Mentalist* (which is also a very good show)), and NBC is not known for its thoughtful attitude towards programming.  It's gotten good/strong critical reviews, but the time slot is a poor choice.

Save 'Awake'
Renew "Awake" for a Second Season

And then there is this blog:  http://saveawake.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/mission-begins.html
(which is run by the two above FB pages admins)

"You might be wondering how long Detective Britten (Jason Isaacs) can keep his dreams intact before those outside of his therapists begin to poke holes in his dual realities. It’s that time on Thursday’s episode of NBC’s Awake.

As it stands, Britten has been able to keep both his son and wife alive in two different realities. But events will begin to threaten the already delicate balance he’s dealing with when his co-workers can no longer ignore his preternatural sixth sense about his cases and his wife wants to make a change of locale to Oregon.

In THR’s sneak peek below, Dr. Lee (BD Wong) tries to get Britten to understand why he’s resisting his wife’s desire to leave Los Angeles."

Video won't embed. Please click here to watch the Sneak Peek.

Meanwhile, in other news: Awake's ratings thus far = me going ->

Hi all,

Mr. Jason will be appearing on Carson Daly's show (NBC at 1:35AM EST/12:35 CST) on Wednesday 3/28. Depending on where you are in the US, if you think that you'll  be able to keep your eyes open (with tape, toothpicks, staples, fingers, whatever you got available), here's the link:

Jason Isaacs is admittedly a bit caught off guard that people are now actually watching NBC’s Awake (Thursdays at 10/9c). After all, the pilot was filmed about a year ago, and production on the 13-episode first season had wrapped before the premiere hit the airwaves earlier this month.

“We were making it behind closed doors for so long… it’s an odd thing, the topic of watching it now,” the actor tells TVLine. “It’s this strange experience of slowly opening the doors to the sunlight and pushing a baby out. We’re feeling very vulnerable, but it’s nice that people are talking about it.” And how. TVLine welcomed the opportunity to explore Awake‘s nuances, strengths and aspirations in this conversation with Isaacs, in which he also previews this week’s riveting hour and weighs in on the doubly dynamic drama’s big mysteries.
